Congratulations Erin!

Most recently, Saskatchewan credit union members were provided with an opportunity to participate in the biennial provincial market research study. In participating, members then became eligible to win one or three $250 gift certificates for providing their opinion. Well, as with many things Hollywood, there’s some reality in this story, but there’s also some fantasy. Family members, of course, are not called in for a “reading of the Will” when an individual passes on. However, there are often times when family members are either dismayed or mystified by the terms of a Will. "Joint Account with Right of Survivorship"

When is a “joint account with right of survivorship” not really joint? When you’re dealing with a joint account where one owner has died and the surviving account holder is not the spouse/common-law partner. Unless there is strong corroborative evidence that the account was intended as a gift upon the death of one owner, the funds will generally form part of the Estate, even if the account is established as joint with “right of survivorship”.
